You might be surprised to learn that topical compounds have been applied to the skin for thousands of years. This is a practice used not only to treat different health conditions, but also to help fight the signs of aging and enhance beauty. However, the challenge of using topical methods to apply product and beauty treatments is that the active compounds are not absorbed as effectively.

As a result, science has continued to find more effective ways to apply products in order to reach deeper than the levels just below the skin. Here is the difference between typical topical applications and our specially-formulated transdermal gels.

What Does Topical Mean?

Topicals are used to apply product to the skin which can effectively create a local effect. In other words, they can be used to target issues like itching or help with skin conditions. However, the molecular size and structure of topicals limit their ability to diffuse beyond the upper layers of the skin.

What Does Transdermal Mean?

Transdermal solutions are also applied to the skin but use compounds that enhance the cream’s ability to penetrate the skin’s barrier. As a result, it can push beyond the surface, allowing the solution to enter the systemic circulation to provide more far-reaching effects.

How Does the Skin Work?

The skin is the human body’s largest organ. While it is designed as a barrier, it has many other functions including:

  • Protection against microorganisms, allergens, harmful UV rays, chemicals, etc.

  • Helping maintain water and nutrients

  • Thermal regulation

  • Metabolism

  • Blood pressure control

  • Sensory signals including temperature, pressure, and pain

When a topical or transdermal product is applied to the skin, “permeation” occurs. The product is then diffused either in the upper layers or into deeper tissues that allow it to enter circulation.

Why Use the Skin Instead of Oral or Injection Methods?

While there are many ways to assist in permeation through processes such as needles or micro-abrasions, using transdermal methods is less invasive and can see improved results depending on the purpose of the treatment. Most transdermals use patches because they can increase the effectiveness of the permeation process as they allow the product to enter the system over a prolonged period of time. The substance delivery in this manner improves the interaction between the patch and skin allowing for a higher concentration of the substance to be sustained.

However, in the case of our transdermal gel, SomaDerm® is applied directly to your underarms, forearms, wrists, and behind the knees, rotating those areas to continue to allow the skin to remain effective at absorption. These particular areas are targeted as they tend to be thinner, so the gel is transported directly to the bloodstream. New approaches to transdermal gels like ours provide a more direct route to the right system to improve the number of active ingredients through improved permeation.

When this happens, your body’s natural skin barrier is penetrated in a way that allows the ingredients in SomaDerm to reach deeper tissues below and circulate into your system quickly. There is no need to wear a patch, and you also avoid issues with the key ingredient in our product, Somatropin, sometimes referred to as a bioidentical HGH. (Human Growth Hormone). HGH is often associated with long-term health issues when applied using other methods of delivery such as injections or when taken orally.

Why is HGH so Important?

Growth hormone is naturally produced in high quantities by your pituitary gland during puberty and into your early adulthood. It is required to support growth and proper development. However, once you reach adulthood the amount of HGH produced begins to dwindle. By the time you reach your early 30s, you are well into the aging process as the production of this vital hormone continues to decline. This is what leads to a decline in your health and also the changes to your appearance as you age including fine lines and wrinkles and sagging skin. However, it also leads to other aging issues including:

  • Weight gain

  • Loss of energy and stamina

  • Slower recovery from injury and illness

  • Mood changes

  • Decreased sexual desire and function

All of these issues interfere with your quality of life. However, if you can bring your HGH production back up to the levels you experienced in your youth, you can begin to enjoy the health benefits that having more growth hormone has to offer.

Effective Delivery of Age-Fighting Nutraceuticals

Key ingredients in SomaDerm have been shown to increase natural growth hormone by up to 800% in healthy volunteers. There are many beneficial nutraceuticals delivered to your system through the transdermal gel including raw natural, botanical herbs and ingredients known to help support healthy adrenal and thyroid function while also helping to rejuvenate the body as you get older. This includes powerful antioxidants like green tea to help reduce fatigue and maintain a healthy weight, and Ginkgo biloba to aid in neutralizing free radicals.

Other ingredients such as Epimedium can help support healthy joints and decrease mental and physical fatigue, while Chaste tree berries may help stimulate progesterone. Velvet Bean Seed can help increase dopamine levels in the brain and plasma testosterone levels to encourage improved sexual behavior. Also, wild yam root may aid in the maintenance and production of healthy levels of estrogen and DHEA.
